Ulun Danu Beratan Temple or Lake temple known as lake “sacred mountain“, the area is very fertile, lies at an altitude of 1,200 meters, and the climate is very cold.
This  temple located  in Candi kuning, Tabanan regency, is one of the most prominent  icons of Bali Tourism.  Entrance ticket just 50.000 IDR  and you will see the classic  picture of the temple on your money. The Ulun Danu Temple has calm atmosphere . the cool climate of Candi Kuning gives an extra touch  to the ambience. Local people come not only for praying in the themple. Since there is wooden  bridge at one corner of the confound  where you can sit back and relax while  the coldl water  of lake chills your legs. The lush green garden  at the main etrance   is also wonderful.

The  history of Beratan temple goes back to the era of Mengwi  Kingdom . “I Gusti Agung Putu ” built  the Ulun Danu Beratan as a shrine  for the God praised in the Puncak Mangu Temple. The inspiration of Badbad Mengwi, dated back in 1556 caka years, tells  that “I Gusti Agung Putu” was defeated  by another knight  & was given to “I Gusti Ngurah Tabanan”  as a hostage .   later on the defeated knight  wanted to restore his power holiness, and  had he gone to Puncak Mangu to meditate and  he was blessed  with the magical power of knight  as a result.
The Ulun Danu Bratan temple consists of 4 complexes. The  first complex at the eastern part is Lingga Petak shrine.  The shrine has 4 doors facing the 4 win directions.   It is said that in the foundation  of the shrine  three huge stones when uncovered : white, black & read. There is a spring under  the white stone  and it was  decided  that the shrine  should be dedicated  to the God of Ulun Danu Beratan temple.
The second complex, located on the western part of lingga Petak shrine. This compound called Persimpangan Puncak Mangu. It is considered  as the symbol  fertility of  the soil, which means  in this shrine, the GOD of fertility & prosperity is praised.
The third  complex is the biggest complex of this  temple compound is
Persimpangan  Pura Terate Bang. The main shrine  has  7 storeys,  where the God as creator is praised. One shrine  in the complex  is especially dedicated  for the ancestors of the King  of Mengwi Kingdom.  The last complex is Terate Bang Complex. This complex  dedicated  to “Goddess Uma”, the wife of Shiva.
